10 things that stuck with me this week in technology and business

• Microsoft is killing custom domain names in Outlook.com: One of the features premium Outlook.com users have access to is the ability to host a custom domain name on Outlook.com and therefore to have personalized email addresses on there. According to MS this feature is going away on November 30th, 2023.
  

  

• jc: A CLI tool and python library that converts the output of popular command-line tools, file-types, and common strings to JSON, YAML, or Dictionaries. This allows piping of output to tools like jq and simplifying automation scripts.

  

• Authentik becomes part of Open Core Ventures: Jens Langhammer, the creator of Authentik, created a public benefit company (Authentik Security) for his open source project and joined OCV, a fund created by Sid Sijbrandij, the Co-Founder and CEO of GitLab.

• The Ultimate DevSecOps library: This library contains list of tools and methodologies accompanied with resources. The main goal is to provide to the engineers a guide through open source DevSecOps tooling. This repository covers only cyber security in the cloud and the DevSecOps scope.

• Portmaster: a free and open-source application firewall for Windows and Linux.

  

• SJSON: a Go package that provides a very fast and simple way to set a value in a json document.

  

• trufflehog: a tool to find leaked credentials in git repositories.

  

• gojsonschema: An implementation of JSON Schema for the Go programming language. Supports draft-04, draft-06 and draft-07. I’ve used this to be able to provide a JSON schema for Polycrate blocks that can validate user-provided configuration.

• Outline: a beautiful alternative to Confluence or Notion that you can self-host.

  

• OpenTalk by mailbox.org: a European/German video-conferencing solution built by the creators of mailbox.org
